This book, Out of My Mind, by Sharon M. Draper has a character named Melody. Melody has a disability called cerebral palsy. She has mixed type, which means she has paralyzed arms, legs and feet. She can barely use her hands. Melody, luckily is not alone. She has her mother, father, little sister and tutor Katherine, to support her. Katherine is very kind, caring and most definitely, helpful.
This book’s lessons are to never give up, believe in what you want, and lastly to be whoever you want to be! Even though Melody has this disability, which was very hard for her, she fought through it and did what she could. She was very strong!
I loved this book very much. If you like to read sad, but courageous and funny books then this one is for you!
