Samoyeds are very good dogs to have. They have many traits and are very fun, kind, playful, and protective. Take it from me; I have been living with them for practically all my life! They have been nothing but happy, howling puffballs.
Samoyeds come from Russia and Siberia. The Samoyed is a breed of large herding dog, with a thick, white, double-layer coat. It takes its name from the Samoyedic peoples of Siberia. These nomadic reindeer herders bred the fluffy white dogs to help with the herding.
Samoyeds are closely related to the Canis Lupis: the gray wolf. Samoyeds are hypoallergenic, they live from 12 to 13 years, the average weight of a female samoyed is 35-45 lbs, and the average weight of a male Samoyed is 45-66 lbs.
Samoyeds have a lot of similarities with humans. These happy dogs have lips that naturally curve upwards, meaning they can smile just like us! Their cute smiles are called the “Sammy smile.” The breed is known to howl, possibly due to the Samoyed’s genetic closeness to wolves, and their howls sound a lot like singing. You can get most Samoyeds to sing just by playing them some music or starting to howl yourself—the dogs love to harmonize! Also, Samoyeds can be very helpful. They are used in the Arctic for dog sleds that carry medicines.
I hoped you enjoyed learning about Samoyeds, and have fallen as deeply in love with them as I have. I promise you these dogs are amazing, brave friends that will stay by your side forever.
